The COVID-19 pandemic means that many potential vet students cannot undertake animal handling work experience. This course offers a virtual ‘work experience’ for those considering a career in Veterinary Medicine.
Work experience is a valuable contribution to support an application to Veterinary School as it provides an insight to the roles of veterinary professionals, the wider veterinary team and animal carers in the community.
The aim of this course is to provide you with the key factors you might have learnt in a real working environment. You will be introduced to the profession to enable you to make an informed decision before embarking upon a professional degree course.
This course is etimated to take approximately 3 to 4 hours a week over the two weeks. This time will allow you to explore the avenues a veterinary degree can take you, while also enabling you to discover more about the profession as whole.
Veterinary medicine is an emotional and sometimes physically demanding vocation and it is imperative applicants recognise this when applying. To understand, many applicants for veterinary degrees undertake experience in a range of settings, including catteries, kennels, stables and farms as well as veterinary practices. Work experience also provides the opportunity to assess your own capabilities and see if you can exemplify the skills and qualities required to succeed.
