The impact of FGM and its consequences on women from childhood to later life

“According to the datasets 16% of the respondents may suffer from PTSD while one-third reported symptoms related to depression or anxiety. The following factors appear to [influence the incidence of] psychopathological problems: the type of mutilation (infibulations goes along with more symptoms), the age [at] which it was done, clearness of the memory and the use of drugs [during FGM]. “
