Glutamine can be supplied by eating or via naso-tube feeding. Some of the formulas mix with other nutrients for a balanced formula. The glutamine is also sold in the form of powder or in liquid so that it can be supplemented by just opening it and drinking it. It can also be supplemented through intravenous infusion.

The suggested glutamine volume is 15%-35% of the total amino acid amount. For normal people, it will be around 1 gram protein per kilogram of weight. For patients after surgery, due to the loss of protein in the body is more, the demand for protein is more than what we normal people need. For patients after surgery, the requirement for patients after surgery is around 0.3 grams per kilogram of weight.
