CKD etiology and evaluation of renal disease progression by review of some of the markers and also complicatiosn for ESRD and its treatments. And we actually will spend more time in complications treatment And because this is a major usual about management of ESRD Let’s review about the disease. Chronic kidney disease actually came from lots of different diseases and finally half to 70% of patients were actually progressed to End Stage Renal Disease.

Skip to 1 minute and 14 seconds End stage renal disease is a disease that it is unlikely to recover and will continue progress to dialysis or renal transplant. and three A’s of characteristics for end-stage renal disease include azotemia, anemia and acidosis. We need to remember in our mind And let’s look at the CKD risk factors. There are two parts for CKD risk factors When is about the patient’s personal demographics and the other is about the disease may contribute to a CKD progression.

Skip to 1 minute and 58 seconds And for Demographics, there are aging, low birth weight and family history and some patients may have low income or education level and the public couldn’t understand how to take care the fundamental diseases and less contribute to deter risk of CKD And also smoking and obesity are very important risk factors to contribute to CKD. And there are some major disease that will actually contribute to CKD. including diabetes hypertension and dyslipidemia And they are the common disease that people need to chronic management these diseases. Some bad management skill or poorly management of those fundamental medications and glucose level BP or lipid level that will actually let the patient progress to CKD very quickly.

Chronic Kidney Disease : Overview and risk factors

Welcome to this week. The topic is chronic kidney disease (CKD) and its complications.

In this step, Prof. Chen illustrates the outline for this lesson first, including introduction, CKD Etiology, evaluation of renal disease progression, and complications of ESRD.

For CKD, we need to know there are three characteristics for ESRD: azotemia, anemia, and acidosis.

Following that, we can learn the risk factors for CKD. There are some common diseases that people need to manage. Poor management of those fundamental medications, blood glucose level, or lipid level will let the patients progress to CKD very quickly.

Finally, we are able to review and consolidate the knowledge about the network systems of kidney.
