Introduction to week 1

In this video the head teacher Wiebke give you an introduction to week 1 of the course.
Hello, I’m very happy that you have chosen to start this course. In this video, I will tell you very briefly what will happen in the first week, which is the first half of this course. And, of course, you can take the course in your own speed. But I think we recommend that it would be good to to take it within the time of one week. And this first week, we will start with introducing the basic theories and the basic backgrounds around business models. This is will, for example, include the definition and the different components of a business model, but also give you more insights into what is like business model innovation and other important aspects around business models.
We will also introduce a very famous and important tool that everyone is talking about when it comes to business model development. And this is called the business model canvas. It’s used by a lot of consultants and a lot of companies, and many have succeeded with the help of the business model canvas to improve their businesses. And we will also build this task on exercises and discussions to really work with learning this different tools. And we will also, in doing this week, presented a very exciting example of a business model. And we really hope that we will get started with a discussion about strengths and weaknesses of this business model.
And hopefully this also will result in a very good discussion around how this business model could be improved. I hope you look forward to start this course and start this first week. Good luck.

In this video, we give you an introduction to the content of the first week of the course. You can take the course at your own pace, but we recommend that you take it based on our recommendations.

We also recommend that you take part in discussions and do the tasks associated with the course. Good luck.
