Hello and Welcome to week 4 of the course. This week we will take a closer look at personalised nutrition and consumer engagement with food.

Consumer engagement with food has been steadily growing with healthy, sustainable and ethical food arguably increasing in demand. Recent advancements in technology have allowed individual responses to foods and diets to become increasingly understood, allowing for personalised nutrition.

Personalised nutrition looks at the complex interaction between nutrients and genes to create tailored dietary recommendations. As a result, this can optimise the health of the individual; and work on a larger scale to prevent and manage society wide chronic diseases.

Technology and digitalisation across the food chain also offers consumers more opportunities to:

  • Find, research and share their opinions and preferences on foods;
  • Creates trust and transparency in our food system;
  • Allows consumers to make informed decisions.

This week we’ll be taking a closer look at personalised nutrition and consumer engagement.
