Hello and Welcome to ‘Revolutionising the Food Chain with Technology’, a European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) Food course, produced by Queens University, Belfast, KU Leuven, IMDEA and John Deere.

About the Course

By 2050, global food systems will need to feed and nourish more than 9 billion people in a safe, responsible and sustainable way. In order to achieve global food security for future generations, innovations in technology will play an important role. Digital technology has already played a role in revolutionising other industries and has the potential to transform the agri-food sector.

This course, entitled, ‘Revolutionising the Food Chain with Food Technology’ will showcase state of the art technologies across the entire food chain, from farm to fork, that have the potential to transform the food system; and achieve productive, nutritious , sustainable and transparent food systems which achieve global food security and contribute towards the sustainable development goals.

This course is organised in 5 weekly topics, including:

  • Week 1: Precision Farming
  • Week 2: Food Manufacturing Technologies
  • Week 3: Food Sensing Technologies
  • Week 4: Consumer engagement and Precision nutrition
  • Week 5: Management Perspectives

Each week is designed around the thematic topic and will include a number of videos, discussions and case studies.

Throughout the course you are encouraged to share your thoughts and ideas with others in the comments area found at the bottom of every Step.

You can follow learners who have also joined the course as well as your Educators and Mentors. You can also filter discussions to include people or conversations that you find interesting.
