What will the second week cover?
In the first week, we started discussing science communication, and the relationship that science, society and power have.
As science communicators, we play a role in this relationship. This role depends on our goals: are we communicating to convince the public audience of something, do we want to transmit some information or do we want to start a public discussion?
In the first activity of this week, as you will work through the creation of your message, consider how framing scientific information can influence the public reactions to it and then reflect on the role of storytelling in science.
The second activity of the week will explore practical aspects linked to the delivery of your message.
We will explore how to give an engaging talk by using verbal, non-verbal and visual communication channels, and we will talk with the director of a foundation about organizing live talks and the importance of connecting with a core audience through repeated events, instead of focusing exclusively on larger ones.
We wish you good learning,
