Welcome to Playful Learning.

Here, you will learn about the Playful Reading approach that integrates active reading with speaking, listening and writing through reading a text, image or multimedia based literature. Through reading with purpose, teachers facilitate students to use play-based learning to comprehend what they have read actively to reproduce meaningful learning.

By the end of this activity, you will be able to:

  1. Identify and use an extensive range of children’s literature to assist in the selection of texts for the students to promote early and continued reading development.
  2. Identify and analyse the contexts and strategies for responding to, thinking about and critiquing children’s literature through application of literacy, semiotic and language theories.
  3. Demonstrate awareness of ways in which play-based experiences can support children’s learning and development across a range of contexts, curriculum disciplines and age levels.
  4. Select effective teaching methods, environments and resources which facilitate inclusive and engaging play-based learning experiences.
