System Understanding overview

System Understanding

System understanding comes through repeated exposure to and different ways of thinking about the system you are trying to analyze. The best ideas come to us in a relaxed state, so to understand your system, try the following:

Relax & Reflect – This step is all about calm analysis of your system, as well as about confronting your own biases.

Play & Learn – Here, you can try letting complexity sink in by means of play. Think about role reversal or purposefully designed, serious board games.

Talk & Reconsider – Explaining your project to somebody who’s not familiar with it can create much-needed clarity.
