Subconclusions of the first activity of HRM systems.
  • An HRM System is an Open system because … (1) it is composed of parts (HRM philosophy, HRM policies, HRM practices); (2) these parts – HRM practices are interrelated; and (3) only altogether these parts will constitute an HRM system as a whole”.

  • An HRM system always start with the HRM philosophy… that is a general statement that provides guidance on how an organization regards its human resources, what role the resources play in the overall success of the business, and how they are to be treated and managed.

  • HRM practices are specific organizational actions designed to support HRM philosophy and business strategy.

  • HRM practices always influence each other … although this influence make take different effects:

    Additive effect: 1 + 1 = 2
    Substitutable effect: 1 + 1 = 1
    Positive synergistic effect: 1 + 1 > 2
    Negative synergistic effect: 1 + 1 < 2
