The Mediterranean diet (MED)

The Mediterranean diet is not simply a diet, it’s a lifestyle.

We present the history of the Med diet, the med food pyramid, and the recommended frequency of food consumption.

A food pyramid or diet pyramid is a triangular diagram representing the optimal number of servings to be eaten each day from each of the basic food groups.

It’s a nutritional model mainly based on olive oil, whole grains, fresh or dried fruit and vegetables, a moderate amount of fish, dairy products and meat with many condiments and spices, all accompanied by wine and infusions, according to seasonal availability.
