Introduction to Week 2

In Week 2, we introduce the concept of ‘integrated palliative care’. As you will hear, the integration of palliative care services is important for patients, their family carers and healthcare professionals.

A number of issues will be explored this week, including the language we use when talking about palliative care, and the guidelines available throughout Europe regarding palliative care services.

Guest speakers will offer their observations and recommendations about how integrated palliative care can work in practice, and a further two service examples are offered - this week from Belgium and Hungary.

As in Week 1, there are plenty of opportunities for you to engage in discussion with others and to share your ideas and knowledge on the subject of palliative care. Please continue to join in any discussions, share your comments and respond to other people’s contributions.

Thank you and we hope you enjoy Week 2.
